Adult Classes for August
Our plans for Martial Way’s adult programs for June and July include the following:
- In our Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program, classes will combine some gi and some no-gi (participants should be prepared for either) and will continue working on turtle position.
- Our Adult Kempo classes will focus on ground fighting. Wearing gi tops for this month is encouraged, so please remember to pack yours. Also, we will be using MMA Sparring Gloves for various drills throughout the 6 month rotation. We have a limited amount of gloves in stock and recommend you get your own, so we have enough for everyone. The glove type must be similar to the ones we have (i.e., boxing gloves are not approved). Please speak with an instructor, if you have any questions.
See you at the dojo and on the mat! Osu!

Open Mat on Friday

Designed for women and girls (aged 14+), these trauma-responsive workshop teach boundary setting, affirmative consent, and relevant sexual assault information, as well as the mental and physical skills of Empowerment Self-Defense. All fitness levels are welcomed, and no previous martial arts experience is necessary.
Martial Way’s Open Mat is every Friday from 5pm to 7pm. This is a great opportunity for making up missed classes, and is also good for those who may just want some extra training. Designed for all of our members, please drop in at a time specific to your class. Find the Open Mat Schedule HERE. Keep on practicing!
David Quinlan has dedicated his entire adult life to the study, practice, and teaching, of the martial arts. He created Bushintai-Do, a non-violent synthesis of various traditional martial arts skills designed for school-age children, in 2001. He developed the ThinkSafe self-defense program, as a means to teach practical self-defense strategies to those unable to commit to long-term training. The founder and head instructor at Martial Way, he still enjoys working with all ages and skill levels.
