I see your side of this but something just occurred to me all the westerns (and I’m not trying to hold up Hollywood as historical fact) have a common theme the marshals make the town safe for civilized folks, then come the women, the school houses, and the churches. Eventually, they even had sidewalks to keep the townsfolk out of the mud that Main Street becomes whenever it rains.
